About

The Town Deal is an exciting opportunity to bring millions of pounds-worth of funding to the Bletchley and Fenny Stratford area. This could be transformational in improving local transport connections, access to skills and training and the quality of the town centres, making them more attractive to both businesses and residents.

In July 2019, the Prime Minister announced a new £3.6 billion Town Fund to support an initial 100 Town Deals across England. The money is intended to ensure these places have a prosperous future by developing innovative regeneration plans.

The Government introduced the Towns Fund to support towns across the country in challenges including those around skills, economic opportunities, investment, transport and digital connectivity.

In order to secure a Town Deal, local authorities, communities, businesses and local leaders were invited to work together and form a Town Deal Board to oversee the preparation of a Town Investment Plan that can set out a vision for their area’s future prosperity and economic growth.

Milton Keynes was identified as one of the towns eligible to bid for Towns Funding, and MK Council decided to focus the bid around Bletchley and Fenny Stratford as it is considered to be the area of Milton Keynes that would benefit most from a Town Deal.

The Town Deal Board held its inaugural meeting on 3 July 2020. For more information about the Board members and meetings click on the Related Links to the right of this page.

In October 2020, the Board and Milton Keynes Council submitted a funding proposal to the Government for a multi-million-pound investment in the area. The Board worked with the community to develop the Town Investment Plan and agreed a number of projects. More information can be found on the Projects page.
