Question

What about the announcement relating to an initial £1m of funding?

Answer

In summer 2020 the Government asked all Town Deal areas to identify any initial projects that could be delivered before April 2021. The Town Deal Board responded to suggest that up to £1m funding could be used to deliver three new redway links to improve the connectivity between the Lakes Estate, Bletchley Town Centre and Newton Leys to the Blue Lagoon Nature Reserve. Another £200,000 could support the initial improvement works to the former Bletchley Fire Station. Any works at the site would be subject to consultation with the local community.

Question

What are the timescales for the Fund?

Answer

Initial community and stakeholder engagement is taking place during 2020 as part of formulating the Investment Plan. Independent consultants worked on developing the Town Investment Plan for submitting to the Government at the end of October. The Government will then analyse the Town Investment Plan based on the impact it will have, the strength of the vision for the future, the strategy for delivery and the strength of collaboration between the community, private sector and other local stakeholders. The Government will set the timeframes and key dates. The guidance does not specify, for example, how long they will take to review the Investment Plan.

You can view the Town Investment Plan document and appendices here.
